About "What About Jazz?" Creator Nick Finzer:

Nick Finzer is an emerging young trombonist on the 21st century jazz scene. A 2010 finalist in the International Trombone Association’s Carl Fontana Jazz Trombone Competition, Nick has steadily built his reputation through his musical versatility and passion.

Nick has lead his own groups on tours throughout the United States including master classes and clinics at high schools and universities including Penn State, Gonzaga University, and the Eastman School of Music. As a sideman Nick has had the opportunity to perform with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, Wycliffe Gordon, John Clayton and Benny Golson, as well as appear on recordings with Bill Dobbins, Rich Thompson, and David Gibson. Nick has performed at venues including The Blue Note Jazz Club (NYC), the Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the Syracuse Jazz Festival, to name a few.

Originally from Rochester, New York, Nick is a 2009 alumnus of the Eastman School of Music, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Jazz and Contemporary Media. During that time Nick had the opportunity to work with trombonist Wycliffe Gordon to commission and premiere four compositions ranging from jazz sextet to full big band. Nick currently resides in New York City, and is attending The Juilliard School for a Masters Degree in Jazz Trombone.
